Pirate Rumor

Some crew and passengers believe that we had an encounter with pirates.

Here is what happened. At 5:45 pm Friday, 6 small motor boats approached our ship. Three boats moved to each side of the ship. One of the boats came very near our ship and passed along the side of our ship as if looking for a way to board. One crew said that the design of the boats was the same as the pirate ship shown on CNN.

Our ship sped up. Its maximum speed is about 20 knots, so we are much faster than tanker or cargo ships. Further, the crew were seen to be taking the covers off of the sound cannon.

The boats left, and the official story is that these were only fishing boats. This could be true, but I suspect that the true pirates also pretend to be fishermen for all of the time that they are scouting around.
