We had an emergency drill yesterday to practice what would happen if we were attacked by pirates. We all had to go to our cabins using interior routes, close the drapes, and sit on the floor away from the windows with one person by the door to get instructions from the crew. The ship got up to top speed and deployed the stabilizers in order to be able to do radical turns if that had been necessary.
We could hear the ship firing its sound cannon. This projects a low frequency sound wave in a concentrated, aimable direction.
The ship also had fire hoses deployed that they could use to disorient anybody that attempted to board the ship. The whole exercise took about half an hour.
This morning we entered the area where the pirate activity has been happening and will remain in that region for 4 days. The ship is on heightened security status for this time period.
