This is our port lecturer on Egypt. He is an Egyptologist, a university professor, and a tour agent of some sort. He has been extremely interesting. We heard 3 lectures from him, he will provide commentary on the ship’s intercom system as we transit the Suez Canal, and we have had 3-4 personal conversations with him.
His first name, Akram, means “the generous one” in Arabic. For that reason, he prefers to be called “Aki”, which has no meaning in Arabic.
Even though we get reimbursed for internet time on the ship, I’m not going to follow up on him to see what the internet says about him, but I’d welcome somebody Googling “Akram Allam” and posting a comment about what you can find about him.

Recognized as a leading scholar of ancient Egyptian history, "Aki" Allam has been a licensed Egyptologist for more than 15 years. Born in Cairo, he received a university degree with a specialty in ancient Egyptian history. Aki is an entertaining and enthusiastic teacher who has guided many well-known Americans through Egypt, and enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge of his native land. Aki will accompany the expedition shown below.
