As we approach the harbor, we realized how they fixed this problem. They set up a lock system that kept the harbor at high tide, and calm. However, the width of the lock was only about 20 feet wider than our ship, so we had about 10 feet on each side of the ship. We entered at less than half a mile per hour. (I could figure this out by timing in ft/sec how fast ground passed outside of our window.)
We have a great view of this type of transit given our cabin location at the front corner of the ship.
Incheon is only 30 mile from Seoul (where we spent the day). You would never know where Inchon stopped and Seoul started because the run together.
