Our overnight sailing took place mostly within an intercoastal path. When I woke up this morning there were mountains on both sides of the waterway.
We had booked through the ship a walking tour of Miyajima, an island across the bay from Hiroshima. It appears that the text that they posted with this tour choice was an error: they really intended to do a much simpler walking tour of downtown Hiroshima. So Princess had to scramble. We ended up taking a streetcar, then train, then ferry to get to the island. At this point we thought we had gotten a raw deal. However, the we saw lots of interesting things. The guide also arranged for a bus to get us back to the ship, and we stopped at the war memorials.
We’ll post photos below of the Shinto Shrine on the island, of deer that roams free on the island and were protected by law, and of the sole standing building left from the atomic bombing. We’ll add text to each of these photo postings.
