Dave and Kathleen on Korean TV

This must be the most unusual thing that has happened to us so far this trip. We are walking through a shopping area after lunch on our Seoul trip when a young man approaches us and says he is producer of a Korean TV show and would like for us to sample some food for them and comment on it. We think “be careful…do not buy a time share.” He walks us through a crowd. There is an overhead camera on a boom, and 3 hand-head cameras. There is a very attractive young women with makeup and sharp clothing who hands us a bowl of soup and talks in perfect English.

She asks us to taste the soup and comment. 4 cameras point at us and lots of people look on. The soup is good: nice chicken, gentle broth, and fresh vegetables. We say we like it. She turns to the cameras and says a lot of stuff in Korean.

She asks if we think it would sell well in the US. (I consider saying something about that depending upon the marketing plan, but I refrain…only because that is the kind of guy I am.)

I tell them that we have just had a huge, overindulgent Korean lunch, but this is nice and light and settling. She tells us what the Korean word for “outstanding” or “excellent” or something like that is, so we say that to the camera.

After that, they introduce us to the chef, and we get pictures with him. We take some photos of the setup to show how many people were involved.

We have no idea what will happen with this…will we be actually on Korean TV? Who knows. But, I don’t think this happened to any other passengers.
